This is the second post in a blog series describing the updates to the ASCENT learning guides for Autodesk Vault 2024. As mentioned in the first blog, these updates are a response to requests from end users and instructors for focused learning guides for each user type, Vault software, and database setup.

Below is an overview of the Autodesk® Vault Basic 2024 Administrator Essentials learning guide:
Description
This learning guide introduces Autodesk Vault Basic 2024 to CAD administrators. Autodesk Vault Basic is the foundation module of the data management solution from Autodesk, enabling users to consolidate and organize all product information securely for easy reference, sharing, and reuse purposes.
Audience
This guide is intended for CAD administrators and focuses on administrative tasks. Hands-on practices are included to reinforce how to administer Autodesk Vault Basic.
Database Set Up
Before you start any practice, you need to perform the basic setup of the database. There are two methods of setting up the database so that you can choose the method that works for your environment:
Method A: Create a Vault and Add a User (works alongside other vaults and keeps current vault intact)
Method B: Restore the Database (overwrites current datasets and file stores in your current vault, therefore, be sure to back up any necessary vaults that you might require later). Using the restore method eliminates the need to set up the user required for the hand-on practices.
Contents
First, you are introduced to the Autodesk Vault features in Chapter 1. Then, instructions on some of the end-user tasks required to get started with Vault are provided in Chapter 2. This will help you become familiar with some of the essential functionality required to support your users. Chapters 3, 4, and 5 cover the administration tasks that you will perform when setting up and managing Vault Basic.
The chapters included in this guide are listed below:
Chapter 1: Introduction to Autodesk Vault
