Collaborating with Your Editor: Enhancing Your Documentation with ASCENT

June 3, 2025 Breanne MacDonald

The editing process is most effective when it’s a collaborative effort between the editor and writer. At ASCENT, we understand the importance of this partnership. Our Technical Editing Services are designed not only to refine your documents, but also to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency throughout the content.

When you partner with ASCENT, our experienced editors work closely with your team, asking targeted questions to clarify meaning, resolve inconsistencies, and align with your style guidelines. Whether you're developing technical manuals, eLearning guides, or internal documentation, our goal is to support your expertise while ensuring your message is polished and professional.

Tips for Working with Your Editor

To ensure a smooth review process, consider these best practices:

  • Respond to questions: If your editor has marked up the review document with any questions, answer them fully and provide any necessary changes to the text. By providing clear answers and preferred wording for suggested changes, your editor can align the document with your intent without coming back to you to review the changes.

  • Be specific about changes: Clear and specific editing requests speed up reviews by reducing back-and-forth.

  • Note if changes are global: Highlight recurring edits at their first occurrence and indicate that they should be applied throughout the document. The editors will handle the rest, ensuring no instances are missed.

By working collaboratively with ASCENT, you can feel confident that your documents will be clear, professional, and ready for publication. Let us handle the details while you focus on your expertise.
