My 5 Favorite New Core Features in Autodesk Revit 2023

The Autodesk development team has added a lot of new features to make designing easier. With the release of Autodesk Revit 2023, there are some exciting enhancements and features. A few core features that stood out to me are highlighted below, but trust me, there are plenty more wonderful enhancements to explore. 

Feature #1: View Placement on Sheet Status Icon 
The box to the left of the view name indicates if that view has been placed on a sheet. 

• A box that’s filled in indicates that the view is on a sheet. 

• A white (empty) box indicates that the view is not on a sheet. 

• A half-filled box indicates that the view is partially placed on a sheet (for example, in the case where a schedule has multiple views because of the schedule’s length). 

Feature #2: Positioning for Import/Link CAD Files  
This feature allows you to place a link or import a CAD file at a horizontal reference plane. This feature will come in handy when you are working with shared coordinates, which is covered in our Site Planning and Design guide. 

Feature #3: Swapping Views on Sheets 
You can reduce the time it takes to create new sheets, as well as modify the views that are placed on a sheet. 

• When swapping views, you cannot select a view that is already placed on a sheet. You will need to first remove the view from its sheet and then swap the view. 

• Alternatively, with the viewport selected, in Properties, in the Identity Data section, change the View on the sheet by expanding the parameter’s drop-down list and selecting a different view. 

Feature #4: Active Controls and Dimensions  
This feature lets you turn off controls and temporary dimensions when you have multiple elements selected. Using this feature makes viewing the selected elements easier. 

Feature #5: Filter by Sheet  

Setting this feature within the schedule’s properties allows you to place a schedule on a sheet containing a viewport, and the schedule will automatically filter the content that pertains to the view. For example, a door schedule is placed on a sheet that has the Floor 1 plan view. The schedule will filter to only display the information for Floor 1’s doors.
