Understanding the 3 Ps 

We come across the terms Policies, Processes, and Procedures in a business, and they are often used interchangeably. Do you ever wonder what each term means? 

The 3 Ps are three key elements required for the successful management of your business operations. Each term has a specific definition, but in practice, there may be overlaps. 

For ease of understanding, let’s organize these in a pyramid structure as shown in the image below.  

  • A policy defines an organization’s objectives, and the guidelines you can follow to meet these objectives.  
  • A process identifies the tasks and resources required to achieve the policy objectives.  
  • A procedure provides instructions on how to perform a task. 

Now that we have covered the 3Ps, let us delve a little deeper into understanding what a policy is in my next blog.
