Some really, great questions came out of the session. I have included them below along with their answers.

Q: Is there an option to use one or the other by holding down another key or something like that?
A: Pressing the spacebar while using lasso toggles between crossing and window.

Q: Can Quick Select target custom attributes?
A: If the custom attributes are not part of a block, it will select them. Simply set the Object type to Attribute Definition in the Quick Select dialog box as shown below. Then select the properties you wish to search on. However, it the attribute sits inside a block, you can not select the block according to a specific attribute.

Q: Using the trim command, could I have chosen the curved lines around the fountain to trim the beams?
A: Yes. If you intentionally set the cutting edge by selecting the lines surrounding the fountain, you could eliminate the need to erase the line remnants inside the fountain later, as shown in the image below.
