Did you know you can export PowerPoint slides into a video format without needing to record the presentation manually? This can be a super useful tool for creating interactive presentations very quickly. This blog will walk you through the steps.
How to Create a Video of Your Slides
-
If you want any animations included in your slides, add them first.
-
Select the Record tab. In the Export panel, click Export to Video.
-
To export the file with the resolution shown, enter a file name for your video and click Export Video. If you want to change the timing of the slides or adjust other settings, click Customize Export.
-
On the Create a Video page, use the first drop-down list to change the resolution, if needed.
-
In the Seconds spent on each slide field, type the length you would like each slide to be shown for (the default is 5 seconds).
-
If your slides include animations, they will be preserved and shown an equal distance apart based on the length of the slide (e.g., a slide with three animations will show them approx. 3 seconds apart, whereas a slide with six animations will show them approx. 1.5 seconds apart).
-
If you’ve added duration to your animations, this will be preserved and the slide time adjusted accordingly if needed. This could be helpful if you know the timing of your audio file ahead of time.
-
Click Create Video.
-
Select a folder location to save your video and click Save.
Exporting slides to video this way means that each slide will have the same duration in your video. If you are trying to match up the slides with a script that has not yet been recorded, this may not be the fastest solution as you can add recording timings and narrations directly in PowerPoint. However, if you already have an audio file (or are using a program like Audiate to generate one) and have to create the video to match, this gives you a good base to start from that can then be edited in video editing software like Camtasia.
