Revit 2027: Key Interface and Workflow Updates

October 19, 2026 Cherisse Biddulph

Autodesk Revit 2027 introduces several updates that make the interface cleaner, improve access to key tools, and support more efficient modeling workflows. From the removal of the Options Bar to the addition of the AI Assistant and new tool locations, these changes affect how users navigate commands, adjust settings, and work with architectural and structural elements. This blog highlights some of the key updates included in Revit 2027.

Interface changes

  • The Home screen now offers personalized recommendations based on your workflow. Select the Explore new features and tips icon to view featured suggestions, learn about new tools, and discover what’s new in Revit.

  • The InfoCenter, located in the upper-right corner, now includes an AI Assistant icon. When selected in a project, it helps answer questions that may come up during the design process.

The AI Assistant is currently in Tech Preview, so Autodesk will continue refining it through Revit updates based on customer feedback and usage. You can ask simple questions or more advanced design-related questions.

The AI Assistant can analyze your model and support design tasks, such as adding “Demo” to the beginning of each sheet name. It uses Model Context Protocol (MCP) architecture to better understand, organize, and edit Revit model data.

  • The Options Bar has been removed from the interface. Its settings now appear in Properties or on the ribbon’s contextual tab, depending on the active command and selected sketch tool. This simplifies the workspace by keeping tool settings in fewer, more consistent locations.

Wall command changes

Finish wall placement has been streamlined and is now part of the main Wall command instead of separate hosted wall tools. The Place by Room and Place by Segment options are now available with the sketch tools on the Draw panel, with additional controls on the Placement, Constraint, and Levels panels.

Tag by Category changes

When using Tag by Category, the Placement contextual tab has been updated. Leader Line and Leader Length are now combined, and Leader Type has been renamed Leader End.

  • Tag leaders now provide more control over the start and end points of a leader. Depending on the Leader End setting used when the tag is placed, selecting the tag displays an icon at each end of the leader line. These icons let you toggle between Attached Start/End and Free Start/End.

Reinforcement changes

Reinforcement tools have moved from the Structure tab to the new Concrete tab, which groups concrete-related commands in one location and makes reinforcement tools easier to find and use.

Revit 2027 also adds new free-form rebar workflows for more complex concrete reinforcement. The Path tool places transverse reinforcement along a 3D path defined by host edges, making it useful for curved slabs, walls, bridges, tunnels, and other double-curved concrete elements. The bars stay aligned to the path and can adjust when the host geometry changes. The Morphed tool creates longitudinal bars that follow selected transverse reinforcement, such as stirrups, spiral rebar, or multi-segment rebar sets. These tools help improve accuracy and consistency when modeling reinforcement in complex concrete shapes.

These updates, along with several others, are included in the ASCENT Revit Fundamentals for Architecture and Revit Fundamentals for Structure books.
