Navisworks has been around for some time, and for many years, there hasn’t been much new in its yearly releases. But over time the interface has changed to bring it more in line with the other major Autodesk products in terms of a home/landing/startup page, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
Now in the 2027 release, Navisworks has improved the way you can customize its Quick Access Toolbar.
To add (or remove) commands to the Quick Access Toolbar, use the drop-down menu and select the Customize option, as shown above. This launches the Customize Quick Access Toolbar dialog box, as shown below. From there, you can select which ribbon tab contains the command you want to add from the left column, select which command you want to add in the middle column, and choose where to place it in the right column.
On the far right are icons to: ![]()
-
Add the selected command (you can also double click on the command in the middle column)
-
Insert a divider line
-
Remove the selected command from the Quick Access Toolbar (you can also double-click on the command in the right column)
-
Rearrange the order of the commands
-
Reset the Quick Access Toolbar to its original state.

-
You can also add commands to the Quick Access Toolbar by right-clicking on a command in the ribbon and selecting Add to Quick Access Toolbar or remove a command by right-clicking and selecting Remove from Quick Access Toolbar.
-
Show the toolbar above or below the ribbon
To change the docked location of the Quick Access Toolbar, right-click on it and use the options to Show Quick Access Toolbar below (or above) the Ribbon. A good reason to place it below the ribbon is to have sufficient room when adding more commands to the Quick Access Toolbar.
If you don’t use the Quick Access Toolbar very much and are not interested in customizing it, it’s probably best to leave it above the ribbon. That is its default location and what most people are familiar with.
If, however, you’ve grown accustomed to the value of the Quick Access Toolbar and are into customizing and adding to it, you may run out of room in the limited space above the ribbon. Now you can move it below the ribbon, where there is plenty of room to add your favorite commands. When doing so, it is recommended you also add divider lines to group the commands.
A more personalized Navisworks experience
The new method of customizing the Quick Access Toolbar in Navisworks 2027 is quite the improvement. It is more intuitive, giving you greater control over what is present in the toolbar and what is not.
